In January 2017, Michele Aaron presented an initial research paper on the Life:Moving project at the MeCCSA (Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association) conference in Leeds.

The Life:Moving exhibition – marking the end of the research project ‘Digital Technology and Human Vulnerability’ – took place at St Barnabas in Erdington, Birmingham, at the end of April 2017. This exhibition has been documented on this site.

In May 2017, Michele, Briony,  Keisha and Haifa took part in a special screening and discussion of Life:Moving as part of ‘A Matter of Life and Death‘, the Dying Matters Awareness week of events taking place at mac Birmingham.

In June 2017, Briony and Michele delivered a research paper on Life:Moving at the NECS (European Network of Cinema and Media Studies) conference in Paris.

During the month of July 2017, the Life:Moving Exhibition was installed in the lobby of John Taylor Hospice.

In July 2017, Michele discussed the project as part of the Death and Dying seminar series at the Open University in Milton Keynes.

We were delighted to have worked with The Rep to install the Life:Moving films at the Birmingham theatre from 22 September – 21 October 2017.  The installation accompanied their staging of the award-winning play ‘Duet for One’

In November 2017, Michele and Jed discussed Life:Moving as part of a very well-received panel at the Hospice UK national conference.

In December, Life:Moving is part of Respublika! Community Media Arts Festival in Cyprus.  On Tuesday 12th December, Michele and Briony ran a workshop on the project at Materia, a Care and Rehabilitation unit in Nicosia.


On Friday 15th December, Michele spoke about Life:Moving – the films and the research – at CUT-Radio in Limassol.


CUT is a community radio station and she was on the show dedicated to the Arts, along with a Dutch team also sharing work at the festival. The Life:Moving exhibition will be installed at Materia until the end of January 2018.


The Life:Moving exhibition remained installed at two locations in Cyprus – at Materia Care and Rehabilitation centre in Nicosia, and NeMe arts centre in Limassol – until the end of January 2018. All as part of the Respublika! A Cypriot Community Media Arts Festival.

In February, a report on the project is published as part of the AHRC’s online book on all the Digital Transformation research it funded.
